Following the Oba nightclub killings the 35 years old owner of Porshe Nightclub, Chief Ebere Orji where about seven persons were killed was also kidnapped with others.
Gunmen had invaded the club which is said to be popular in Oba, Idemili North local government area of Anambra state, killing some security operatives of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG), and some other fun seekers.
It was also gathered that one of the vigilante operatives was beheaded by the gunmen, while one of them had his foot cut off and taken away.
Though our correspondent had gathered that the shooting was because of the resistance mounted by the security operatives, which stopped them from kidnapping the owner of the nightclub, fresh facts show that Chief Ebele Orji, owner of the club was successfully taken.
A Facebook user with the name Agumba Idemili wrote in his timeline that Orji was kidnapped.
Agumba Idemili wrote: “Pray for our brother. After heavy gunshots at his club for over one hour, and after killing so many people, he was kidnapped with some people. Pray for his safety.
“C.E.O Porche Club Ebele orji is a good man, he doesn’t deserve such. May Chukwu Okike Abiama protect him. Fans pray for Oba. Oba is bleeding.”
Another Facebook user with the name Why Worry corroborated the claim, saying that his younger brother was among those taken, and that they were yet to hear from the kidnappers.
Another source living around the scene, but who did not give her name, said the development created panic as residents of the area ran helter skelter while those who had gone out of the community for one function or the other, remained outside until the following morning.
Anambra State Police Command had earlier confirmed the incident through its Spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, saying that bodies of those killed have been recovered. He added that no arrest had been made.
He also announced full deployment of security operatives to Oba, stating that surveillance operation had been ongoing but no arrests had been made.
Oba, a growing suburban town in Anambra, is close to Onitsha, and has a high number of hospitality facilities, with a burgeoning night life.
Sunday night’s attack on Porsche Nightclub is not the first in the town. A popular native doctor, Akwa Okuko, had months back been kidnapped by gunmen in his hotel, and was later released after payment of ransom.
