A large crowd of Deltans weekend gathered at the Ugbolokposu area of Warri where Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, national chairman of the Social Democratic Party and other party chieftains received defectors from PDP and APC into the SDP.
The crowd of people who witnessed the defection and the defectors who defied the rain, raising their brooms which were later burnt at the ground, vowed to work for the SDP to clinch the governorship position in the 2023 general elections.
The defectors came from the 25 local government areas of the state who felt the PDP government in Delta state and the APC at the federal level have failed to meet their desires, hence the need to find solace in the SDP, one of the oldest political parties in Nigeria.
The event which one of the biggest of the SDP in the state had governorship candidates of party from Kwara, Ogun, Adamawa and Taraba state with senatorial candidate from Niger state and Solomon Lalung former minister of youths and sports, an House of Representatives candidate from Plateau state.
The national chairman who received the decampees, alongside Olorogun Gbagi, said they had come to a family where they care for everyone of their members with good programmes to meet the need of the nation.
He enjoined them to remain resolute and committed to the ideals of SDP, just as he advised all Deltans and Nigerians to register and collect their PVC to vote for the Social Democratic Party in Delta state.
The event ground had groups from all the 25 local government areas of the state who believe in the programmes of the SDP and have assurance that they would mobilise their family and friends to vote for SDP in the 2023 general elections.
