Police Surveillance Team attached to “B” division Warri, in a combined effort with operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Monday 10 October while on surveillance patrol along Okere road Warri, noticed that a tricycle reversed upon sighting the Policemen.
The team chased the hoodlums for about five minutes and suddenly, the hoodlums opened fire on the police team.
The police team engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and successfully neutralized one of the suspects while others escaped. According to CSP Bright Edafe, Delta State Police public relations officer, the injured suspect was taken to the hospital where he was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
One pump action gun, six live cartridges were recovered and efforts are being made by the Police to arrest the fleeing suspects.
