If Deltans are truthful to themselves they should know that the state needs someone like Gbagi- Activist
An activist, Mr. Zik Gbemre, has reiterated that the leading governorship aspirant in Delta State under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, remains the surest bet as a governorship aspirant with the clout, stamina, intellectual capability, business and entrepreneurial skills.
Gbemre made the submission on Friday May 7th 2021, in a press statement, noting that everyone that is of age has the constitutional right to contest for public office in an election if they want to, “but that does not mean they should play ‘dirty politics’ by starting a smear campaign against another political candidate they see as a threat”.
According to him, if Deltans are to be truthful to themselves, they would come to the same conclusion that the state desperately needs someone like Gbagi, to bring his entrepreneurial skills.
“It is very possible to have the same, or similar development in Delta state, considering the sort of revenues that accrue to the state, if only the people will wake up from their slumber and ensure that the right person is put in the state Government House.
“An Urhobo politician who confided in someone said: “I know Gbagi will perform well as a Governor of Delta State, but my fear is that you can’t dictate to him. And two, I am too old to be jailed.” When he was asked why will you be jailed? He said: “I did not do some of the government jobs given to me to specification”.
Gbemre opined that these, and many more are some of the reasons why they have now ganged up against Gbagi, and have used the four supposed Gbagi hotel workers to try and discredit and rubbish him so that he will not be able to contest the governorship election of the state.
But speaking further, he said: “And also, so that Gbagi will be hated by the public and seen as a wicked and heartless man. But like I said earlier, if those behind all of these have enough evidences as they claim, then they should focus on proving their case in the law court, rather than spreading stories on different social media platforms in carrying out their smear campaigns.
While noting that he was not paid to play the piper, he stated that his conscience has not been sealed with hot iron according to the Biblical injunction, saying that his continued support for Gbagi was based on his principles as a concerned Deltan.
Hear him: “To those who think I am doing all of this because I was paid by anyone, they are wrong and greatly mistaken. My integrity is very much intact, and it is not something that one can purchase like food in the market. It takes years to build one’s integrity.
“My support for Gbagi is strictly based on my personal principles as a concerned Deltan who desirous wants to see positive changes in Delta State in the interest of the common man. But I will not succumb to anyone’s, or group of persons intimidation, in trying to make me not talk about, and expose the evil and abnormality going in Delta State political space”, Gbemre added.
