Joint Press Release

7th February, 2021

RE: BATTLE OF SUPREMACY TEARS DELTA DEPUTY GOVERNOR OTUARO, SEN. J.E MANAGER APART: NEWS REPORTERS SHOULD REFRAIN FROM DEFAMATORY STORIES

Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and defamatory news publication purportedly authored by Focalpoint Reporter,   sarcastically alleging that politics has torn Deacon Otuaro and Sen. Manager apart. The said report did not only contain lies and fabricated stories cooked up from their mischievous and wildest imagination, the reporter also tried to create political capital, may be to satisfy the insatiable urge of his payment masters.

To set the record straight which has hitherto informed the reason we are responding to the said pirated story, there was no time the duo of Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro and Sen. James Ebiowou Manager engage each other in supremacy battle during the Ijaw stakeholders condolence visit to Governor Okowa over the death of his father.

The Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro as the number two political leader in the state and the leader that led the Delta Ijaws to the condolence visit was only accorded his pride of place to speak on behalf of the Ijaws. Every politically enlightened person knows that that has been the tradition in any political gathering. We expect reporters like Focalpoint to understand this time tested tradition in our body polity.

We make bold to say for the umpteenth time that there was not at any time on that condolence visit that the issue of who to speak for the Ijaw stakeholders became a subject of discord among the Ijaw leaders. The defamatory and seditious story published by Focalpoint Reporter who is known for reporting such fabricated and malicious news articles all the times, only existed in the cruel imagination of the Reporter.

At best, Focalpoint Reporter who was not the only media platform that covered that occasion, only exposed their crass inefficiency in journalistic reportage. They maybe forgiven in dishing out fallacious story just to score cheap political point by displaying their unprofessionalism.

However,  being ignorance of the law by publishing defamatory and seditious story against the towering images of Ijaw leaders, especially the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro and the Distinguished Sen. J. E. Manager would not be an excuse. People should be careful with their unprofessional activities in order not to be caught up with the long arm of the law. Do not blame anybody if lizards visit you through the ants infected fagot you brought to your house.

Signed:

Comr. Abobo Blessing,

Director of Media,

Delta South Political Assembly;

Comrade Clement E. Ekpas,

Director-General,

Delta Ijaws G-5 Movement
