IMO state PDP calls out Uzodinma, kill his hopes for reelection, check out their reasons

The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Governor Hope Uzodimma not to seek reelection, citing his poor performance and the suffering he has caused the people. The party’s spokesperson, Collins Opurozor, criticized the governor’s recent interview on Channels TV where he claimed that the state was in a terrible state when he assumed office in 2020.

Opurozor argued that the governor’s tenure has been marked by poverty and hardship, making it unjustifiable to consider reelecting an administration that has brought so much suffering to the people. He emphasized that prior to Uzodimma’s leadership, the state was secure and progressing well in terms of social and economic development.

Opurozor stated, “Something unprecedented has occurred in Imo State over the past week. The outgoing government of Senator Hope Uzodinma has resorted to a campaign of misinformation, lies, and deceit as its only strategy in attempting the uphill and impossible task of securing reelection in November. Those who are poor in governance are often rich in propaganda.”

He further pointed out instances where the government engaged in falsehoods and blamed the opposition for its failures, including the deteriorating security situation in the state. Opurozor then addressed the governor’s claim of inheriting a cemetery, countering that Imo State was once a paradise, but Uzodimma’s tenure has turned it into a place of violence and death.

He highlighted the alarming occupation of more than half of Imo State by bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers, leading to a rise in poverty, starvation, and crime. Opurozor criticized the governor for prioritizing politics and personal gain rather than addressing the dire security situation.

Opurozor also emphasized the need for equity, suggesting that Uzodimma, being from the Orlu Zone which has held power for twenty out of the last twenty-four years, should not run for reelection. He called on the people of Imo State to reject the misinformation from the outgoing government and unite with the PDP to remove the failed regime from power in November.

In response, the state government dismissed the PDP’s statements, stating that the party had not recovered from its significant losses to the All Progressives Congress in the previous elections. The governor’s Special Adviser on Public Communications, Collins Ughalaa, asserted that the people of Imo State were satisfied with the governor’s performance and expressed confidence in his reelection in November.
