1. Gunmen in large numbers with sophisticated weapons attacked the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Jos, Plateau State on Sunday. The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) however said in a statement that the gunmen have been trapped in the custodial centre’s yard.

2. Some armed men on Sunday, reportedly invaded the Conference Hotel, Abeokuta, shooting repeatedly into the air. The men, who many suspected to be officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), invaded the hotel, belonging to a former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel and made away with yet-to-be-identified persons.

3. The Department of State Services, DSS has issued an alert over planned attacks by insurgents on Ogun border communities and other border communities in Nigeria. In a letter signed by the State Director of Security, Ogun State Command, M.B. Abdullahi, DSS warned that it has intelligence that the insurgents are plotting to attack military bases in border towns.

4. Gunmen suspected to be sea pirates, in the early hours of Sunday attacked two oil installations, killing three and abducting seven oil workers in Bayelsa. It was learnt that the pirates ambushed their unsuspecting victims in Okoroma and Ogbokiri-Akassa communities of Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas of Bayelsa.

5. Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity has tackled the former presidential aide, Reno Omokri for challenging him to spend a weekend in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State and get $50k. Reacting to Omokri’s challenge, Garba Shehu in a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, accused the ex-media aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan of using the ordeal of abducted Daptchi School Girl, Leah Sharibu to make money.

6. The Police Command in Kaduna has confirmed the release of 10 out of the 13 abducted workers from the Zaria Local Government, Kaduna State. ASP Mohammed Jalige, Police Public Relations Officer, told newsmen on Sunday in Zaria that the kidnapped staff were released on Saturday, adding that efforts are on to ensure the release of the remaining three victims.

7. Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has described the panel the Lagos State Government set up to probe police brutality as illegal. During an interview on Sunday, Keyamo said the panel lacks the locus standi to probe the military and the police by virtue of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

8. As concerns continued to mount over the new variant of COVID-19 designated as variant of concern (VOC) and named Omicron by the World Health Organisation, WHO, the Federal Government on Sunday night reassured Nigerians that the Omicron variant has not been detected in Nigeria yet.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari, Governors, Captains of Industries and other dignitaries graced Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu son’s wedding at Umuahia, Abia State, on Sunday. Ikpeazu’s son, Jachimike, wedded his heartthrob, Chidinma Onwuenyi, on Sunday.

10. The Federal Government has directed the Nigeria Customs Service to ground 91 private jets belonging to some wealthy Nigerians over their alleged refusal to pay import duties running to over N30bn. This was contained in a letter, with reference number NCS/T&T/ACG/042/s.100/VOL.II, which was dated November 2, 2021, and was addressed to the Director-General, NCAA, Capt Musa Nuhu.
