The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that election will not hold in 240 polling units across 28 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The INEC Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, who disclosed this in a meeting on Monday with political parties and other critical stakeholders stated that no new registrants choose these polling units and that no voter indicated interest to transfer to those units during the last Continuous Voter Registration due to insecurity.
He noted that the total polling units for elections are now 176,606 and that the commission would make a comprehensive list of these polling units.
The INEC chairman added that all voters who have been assigned to new polling units will receive text messages from the commission indicating their polling units before election day.
