A certain Andrew Oscar has been public humiliated and handed over to the police for allegedly wooing a politician’s wife on Facebook.
Oscar, leaked messages showed, had Facebook Messenger chats with the wife of Precious Ajaino, a former chairman of Ethiope West local government in Delta state.
It revealed that Oscar asked the married woman for a date. But the woman, while playing along, repeatedly warned him that her husband was “a lion” who must not see the chats.
The said woman later revealed the chats to her husband and the couple planned a beating for Oscar, it was alleged.
Oscar was allegedly ambushed, beaten and dehumanised by a group of mob hired by Ajaino and his wife.
He was then handed over to the police.
It was not immediately clear if Oscar’s said crime is punishable under Nigerian law. But his accusers could play around Nigeria’s controversial cyber stalking law to make a court jail him or impose a hefty fine.
Images shared online suggested Oscar’s rights may have been violated. The man was tied up and flogged in full glare of the public, the images showed.
