At least twenty persons were burnt beyond recognition in a motor accident that occurred along Achilafiya to Karkarna road in Yankwashi local Government, Jigawa State.
According to reports, the accident involving a Golf and Golf Wagon occurred on Sunday at about 05:00 pm.
It was gathered that the two Golf vehicles had a head-on collision and caught fire instantly. This led to the death of the occupants of the vehicles.
Due to the fire, people couldn’t rescue anyone of the passengers of the vehicles.
Confirming the sad incident, the Spokesman of the Police Command ASP Lawan Shiisu told DAILY POST;
”the accident occurred on Sunday at about 05:00pm along Achilafiya to Karkarna Road, involving a Golf with reg no. XA 361 BCH and Golf Wagon with reg no. FST 276 CX.
While eye witnesses revealed that twenty persons were burnt to death in the accident, the police spokesman revealed that fifteen person died instantly.
According to him, all the occupants of one of the vehicles driven by Bashir Ahmad were burned beyond recognition.
However, the driver of the other vehicle and thirteen of his passengers sustained serious injuries.
He added that all the victims were rushed to PHC Hospital Karkarna for treatment. Sadly, they later died while receiving medical attention.
