Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi, has suspended the state commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Danladi Sankara, following his arrest by the Kano State Hisbah Board over alleged affair with a married woman.
Sankara was arrested in compromised circumstances involving a married woman in an uncompleted building in Kano.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer for the Office of the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, announced the suspension on Saturday.
The statement quoted the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, assuring that the governor’s decision was meant to allow for a transparent investigation into the allegations raised by Hisbah Board.
“The decision comes in light of recent claims that necessitate a thorough examination to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the state administration,” the statement said.
Governor Namadi-led administration reiterated its commitment to accountability and high ethical standards in governance.
The suspension was described as a precautionary measure to ensure a fair investigation.
“We take all allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the trust of Jigawa citizens in the government,” the statement read.
According to LEADERSHIP, the arrest of Sankara followed a complaint filed by Nasiru Bulama, the husband of the woman at the centre of the affair, accusing Sankara of having an affair with his wife.
Hisbah officials confirmed that the commissioner was found and arrested in the company of the married woman in a property belonging to him on Thursday night.
