The Federal High Court 2, sitting in Asaba, Delta State, on Thursday granted bail to Fejiro Oliver.
Oliver, who faces two separate charges related to cyberstalking, had been remanded at Ogwashi-Uku Prison last week.
He spent nearly three weeks in detention without trial following his arrest in Abuja over allegations of defamation and cyberstalking.
The Inspector General of Police had earlier instituted a case against Oliver, accusing him of cyberstalking Governor Oborevwori and Senator Dafinone through a series of Facebook posts the police described as “defamatory.”
The police subsequently amended the two counts in a suit marked FHC/ASB/163c/2025, signed by CSP Gladys Imegu, Esq., R.O. Eze, Esq., and Dr. R.O. Ishiguzo.
During proceedings on Oliver’s bail application, the presiding judge, Justice Olufunmilola A. Agbaje, had initially adjourned the matter to October 16, 2025, for ruling on pending applications and ordered Oliver’s continued remand at the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Centre.
Before his arraignment, Oliver’s counsel, human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, filed a fundamental rights application at the Federal High Court in Asaba.
The court directed the Nigeria Police Force to show cause within 48 hours why Oliver should not be released unconditionally after spending 16 days in detention over cyberstalking allegations.
