The Federal Government has announced that Friday will be observed as a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s International Workers’ Day.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister extended his congratulations to workers nationwide.
He praised Nigerian workers for their commitment and contributions to national development, emphasizing that their efforts remain vital to the country’s progress and economic stability.
The minister also urged workers to uphold values such as patriotism, diligence, and dedication, noting that these are key drivers of sustainable growth.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, ensuring their security, and fostering an enabling environment for economic advancement.
While wishing workers a fulfilling celebration, he encouraged all citizens to maintain peace and adhere to the law, adding that the occasion should serve as a moment to reflect on unity and the importance of hard work in nation-building.
