The South South Zonal Executive Council of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of the entire Delta State Executive Committee of the association, citing what it described as gross misconduct and severe constitutional violations.
The suspension, contained in an official notice jointly signed by Dr. Ochuko Akpeme, Zonal President (South South), alongside other zonal executives, stated that the action followed a formal review of the Delta State leadership’s conduct under the provisions of the NAPPS Constitution 2023 (as amended).
The suspension was made known to journalists during a press briefing in Asaba Delta state capital on Monday, February 16, 2026.
According to the Zonal Executive Council (ZEC), the dissolved Delta State Executive, led by Mrs. Precious Young, was found to have violated multiple constitutional provisions, specifically Article 96 Part B (ii), (xii), and (xiii), as well as Article 24 (iv).
The council said these breaches strike at the core of the association’s governance standards and disciplinary framework.
The notice listed several allegations against the suspended executives, including unlawfully presenting themselves as a neutral body separate from NAPPS, acts of insubordination to constituted authority, and the dissemination of misleading information to members.
ZEC further accused the state leadership of making unauthorized decisions beyond their constitutional powers and engaging in actions that jeopardized the interests and unity of the association.
Additional infractions cited include failure to remit zonal and national dues and the production and publication of materials in the association’s name without approval from the National Executive Council (NEC).
The ZEC said such actions created confusion among members and undermined confidence in the association’s leadership structure.
“As a result of these violations and in line with the sanctions clearly provided in the NAPPS Constitution 2023 as amended, we hereby invoke disciplinary measures and suspend the Delta State Executive members indefinitely,” the statement read.
The council directed all affected officers to hand over all NAPPS documents and properties in their possession to the South South Zonal President within three days of receiving the suspension notice.
It warned that any official act carried out by the suspended executives after receipt of the directive would be considered null, void, and subject to criminal interpretation.
To prevent an administrative vacuum, the ZEC confirmed that an Acting Delta State Executive Committee will be nominated and inaugurated to oversee affairs of the state council.
Despite the disciplinary action, the council acknowledged what it described as the earlier good intentions of the suspended officials and wished them well in their future endeavors.
The statement was endorsed by multiple South South zonal officers, including the Zonal President, Zonal Financial Secretary, a Board of Trustees representative, and a National Council Member, signaling broad zonal backing for the decision.
Among other signatories to the suspension statement are Dr. Victoria Odubo, Board of Trustee; Mrs. Margaret Ebowe Zonal vice president; Hon. Egre Mike Nshum, National Council Member and Mrs. Joy Okoye, Zonal Financial Secretary.
