The Delta North senator-elect, Prince Ned Nwoko, through a press statement made available by his media directorate on Sunday, 14 May, has described Ken Kanma’s petition against him as “rowing on a sinking ship”.

This came after one Delly Ajufo, member Labour Party pcc, affirmed in an interview that Ken Kanma, Delta North Labour Party senatorial candidate in the 2023 senatorial election is currently in court to challenge the victory of his opponent, Prince Ned Nwoko of People’s Democratic Party, as declared by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ajufo, in the interview stated that he is not convinced that Nwoko won the election. He alleged that the senator-elect bribed his way to victory.

In his words, “I don’t think Ned won the election, I believe he failed and he is bribing his way through, which has become the norm.

“Ken is in Abuja. He is making a serious case out of his stolen mandate. I spoke to him, he is in court to retrieve his stolen mandate.”

Reacting, Nwoko’s media directorate released a press statement that countered Ajufo’s claims.

The statement reads in full:

“Kanma, deadbeat political opportunist- Ned Nwoko Media.

“Our attention has been drawn to an online video interview by one Delly Ajufo, making laughable insinuations on the February 18 ,2023, Delta North Senatorial elections overwhelmingly won by Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP.

“While speaking on the interview, Delly Ajufo, an upstart, completely unknown in the political turf, erroneously claimed that Ken Kanma of the Labour Party has what he described as a “stolen mandate” to retrieve, after failing in the senatorial election.

“Ned Media Directorate note with utter dismay, the reckless and childish utterances of Ajufo, faceless mouthpiece of Kanma,a dead beat political neophyte and comical opportunist, hiding on the shadows of Peter Obi to clutch at politics with fake energy.

“It is worth emphasizing for the enlightenment of ignorant Ajufo that Anioma people voted massively for Hon.Prince Ned Nwoko and they are happy with him as their legitimate and distinguished senator.

“Prince Ned Nwoko, a man of honour and integrity, clearly above the lowly shenanigans of mediocre challengers is gearing up for his senatorial inauguration next month, poised to offer excellent representation to Anioma Nation,in bold acceptance of the People’s irreversible mandate.

“Ned Nwoko Media Directorate conscious of subjudice over a Senatorial election matter before the Tribunal would not join issues further with Kanma in his feeble antics, parroted with coarse hysteria by his farcical spokesman.

“Pity, Delly Ajufo and Ken Kanma are rowing on a sinking ship.

“Ned Nwoko is Anioma Senator.

“Signed:

“Ned Nwoko Media Directorate.”

In February 27, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Prince Ned Nwoko, winner in the Delta North senatorial election.

According to INEC returning officer for the senatorial election, Dr. Mrs Josephine Anene-Okeakwa, Nwoko of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 92,514 votes, to defeat Ken Kanma of Labour Party (LP), who polled 86,121 votes.
