North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, describing the relationship between North Korea and Russia as a source of pride.
In a message to Putin, Kim expressed confidence in the future of the bilateral relationship and praised the Russian leader’s leadership.
Kim said he remained proud of the relationship between Pyongyang and Moscow, highlighting what he described as their shared history and cooperation.
Putin also praised the growing partnership in a letter to Kim marking Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule. He said relations between Russia and North Korea had reached an unprecedented level of comprehensive strategic partnership.
The exchange comes as Moscow and Pyongyang have significantly deepened their cooperation since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. North Korea has provided military support to Russia, while the two countries have expanded cooperation in security and other sectors.
The strengthening relationship has attracted international attention because of North Korea’s reported military assistance to Russia in the Ukraine war.
