The Mayor of Urhoboland, Eshanakpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro, has congratulated the newly elected President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Comrade Lucky Emonefe and his executives.
The congratulatory message was contained in his address to the students body, Wednesday when the victorious national executives led by the President paid the Mayor a courtesy visit in his Abuja office where he promised to support the Omonefe-led association in every facet of its growth and development.
He noted that the victory of the new president was well deserved owing to his eloquence, humility, character and penchant for service to humanity.
Mayor Akpodoro, who is the president and chief executive of the Agimor Group Ltd, noted that Omonefe possesses the capacity to lead the youth body and bring development to bear in the association and the life of the Nigerian students.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the increase in the budgetary allocation for education and his vow to ensure that institutions of higher learning in the country would never experience industrial action under his administration.
He called on the student body to join hands with the current administration to build a new Nigeria where employment will be available for young graduates through massive wealth and job creation.
The Mayor urged the student body to focus on their studies and bring their knowledge and wisdom to bear on the nation.
The educational sector, Mayor Akpodoro, noted, has the capacity to produce graduates, professionals, academics, and top-notch business executives that can turn the world around and make Nigeria proud.
“Count on my support every inch of your journey to success. Your leadership of NANS will have me strongly behind it. We shall not relent until we bring out the best among the Nigerian students. Go and succeed and make Nigeria great,” Akpodoro stated.
In his appreciative note to the Mayor, Omoefe stated that his emergence was by the grace of God and his teeming followers across the broad spectrum of the higher institutions in the country saying the popularity and goodwill he enjoyed before, during and after his election was massive, overwhelming and unprecedented.
According to him, those dissenting voices in the form of agitations against his emergence are merely demonstrating the character and the nature of typical contestants in Nigeria, who he described as showing poor sportsmanship.
“I defeated those who contested against me handsdown, and most of them have congratulated me in the spirit of camaraderie while others are still drivelling, but all that shall fizzle out with time.
“In our clime, people hardly accept defeat, particularly when their ulterior motives are defeated you see them kick like a dying horse, but all of that shall be taken care of by our dispute management/resolution body going forward.
“I call on all well-meaning Nigerian students to support us for a greater, stronger, more united, and more reliable student body. The struggle remains our lives,” the victorious student leader stated.
