The Mayor of Urhoboland and prominent businessman, His Excellency Eshanekpe Israel, popularly known as Akpodoro, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, on the occasion of his 62nd birthday.
In a statement issued Thursday in Abuja, the Mayor described Governor Oborevwori as a visionary leader and a statesman whose administration has consistently demonstrated empathy, dedication to service, and a commitment to the welfare of the masses.
According to him, the Governor stands out among his peers for his unwavering focus on people-oriented governance.
Akpodoro praised Governor Oborevwori for his strides in leadership, stating that Deltans have every reason to celebrate a man who has proven to be a capable problem-solver and a beacon of goodwill.
He emphasized that the Governor’s achievements have silenced critics, as he continues to prioritize the needs of the people and lead with humility and purpose.
Calling for a united celebration, the Mayor urged all Deltans, regardless of political or social affiliations, to honor the life and service of a leader whom providence has gifted the state and nation.
“Governor Oborevwori enjoys divine grace and favour. We thank God for blessing Delta State with a compassionate and purpose-driven leader—one who rose from the legislature and now leads across the executive, legislative, and judicial arms of governance. Truly, the hand of God is upon him,” Akpodoro said.
Highlighting the positive impact of the Governor’s MORE Agenda—an acronym for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security—Akpodoro noted that the state is experiencing a renewed sense of progress.
He applauded Oborevwori for revitalizing the state’s infrastructure and positioning Delta as a potential national model.
However, the Mayor also used the opportunity to call on the Governor to address pressing concerns around youth empowerment and infrastructure development in some communities. Referencing his June 12, 2025 message, Akpodoro reiterated his appeal for the inclusion of ex-agitators and youths in empowerment programs.
“While we commend the Governor for ongoing infrastructure projects, attention should also be given to underserved areas, such as Okpokpo Street and Israel Close in Afisere, Ughelli North Local Government Area,” he stated.
“Our youths are eager to contribute to the economic development of the state. They seek meaningful engagement and support, and I am confident that Governor Oborevwori, being a leader who recognizes and nurtures talent, will rise to the occasion.”
Akpodoro concluded by praying for long life, wisdom, and continued strength for the Governor as he leads Delta State to greater heights.
