Deeper Life High School, Delta Campus situated in Opete, Udu local government area has won two trophies both at the national spelling bee (junior category) competition and the Life Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) science competition between Edo and Delta state secondary schools.
At the national spelling bee competition, a junior school student, Elozino Etuele defeated all the schools across the country to clinch the first position which held in Nasarawa, a state in North central Nigeria.
At the LAPO science competition which held in Benin City between Edo and Delta secondary schools, Salvation Farayola, who represented Delta state defeated all the schools to emerge first in the LAPO science competition.
According to reports, the national spelling bee competition started on May 25, 2021 with state qualifiers. The Deeper Life High School won in Delta where nine students of the school were qualified for the zonal level.
Out of the nine, one was qualified for the national level, who is Elozino Etuele, a basic 8 student of the school. The national grand finale was held in Nasarawa where she defeated others at the junior category and emerged a national champion.
Having emerged winner, she was given a medal, trophy and scholarship worth N500,000. Prior to her participation in the competition, she was coached by Mr. Clarkson Okwuazo, Mrs. Blessing Enenche and Mrs. Deborah Katule who accompanied her to Nasarawa state.
On the LAPO science competition, the competition was held between Edo and Delta secondary schools where over 35 schools were represented in Benin City.
The students were tested in Mathematics, English language, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. It was moderated by Professor Julius Iyasere and chaired by Professor Julius Kolawole.
At the end of the academic exercise, Deeper Life High School Delta campus came first, Baptist High School Benin came second while Word of Faith Group of Schools took third position.
The commissioners for basic and secondary education of both Edo and Delta states were represented in the event.
