Festus Ubogu, a prominent grassroots politician in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, has forcefully debunked a viral online report claiming that Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has withdrawn his candidacy for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Labeling the report as “patently false and misleading,” Ubogu described it as a desperate ploy by political adversaries to undermine Elumelu’s towering influence and legacy.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, Ubogu, a staunch supporter of Elumelu, dismissed the rumors as the work of “individuals haunted by the specter of facing Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu in a fair and democratic contest.”
He accused detractors of resorting to misinformation to sow discord and manipulate public opinion, tactics he called “transparent and futile.”
“Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu has not made any announcement regarding his withdrawal,” Ubogu emphasized. “He remains deeply engaged in consultations with stakeholders, listening to the voices of the people whose lives he has touched.”
Ubogu assured constituents that Elumelu’s decision on the 2027 election would be communicated directly to them, not through rumors or third-party fabrications.
Elumelu, a seasoned politician known for his grassroots approach and impactful representation, enjoys widespread support in Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency.
Ubogu underscored Elumelu’s “unwavering pact” with the people, highlighting his legacy of service and commitment to addressing the constituency’s needs.
“His record of achievement speaks for itself,” Ubogu said, expressing confidence that Elumelu’s potential candidacy would be driven by a genuine desire to serve, not personal ambition.
Addressing Elumelu’s opponents, Ubogu issued a bold challenge: “When Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu decides to run, we, his loyal supporters, will be ready. We will procure the necessary forms, mount a grassroots campaign, and demonstrate the unwavering support he commands.”
He urged constituents to remain optimistic, dismissing the rumors as a sign of fear from rivals who “tremble at the prospect of competing against a man of Elumelu’s stature.”
The statement has sparked renewed enthusiasm among Elumelu’s supporters, who view the rumors as a failed attempt to derail his political momentum.
Ubogu’s remarks have also drawn attention to the ongoing consultations, with many in the constituency eagerly awaiting Elumelu’s final decision.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, the political landscape in Aniocha/Oshimili remains charged, with Elumelu’s potential candidacy shaping up to be a defining factor.
For now, Ubogu’s message is clear: “There is no cause for panic, only for anticipation.” The people of Aniocha/Oshimili, he said, can trust in Elumelu’s steadfast dedication and the hope of continued exemplary representation.
