Elumelu Mourns Dr. Nuel Ojei, Says His Death Monumental Loss to Aniocha North, Nigeria

The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of renowned businessmen, industrialist and philanthropist, Dr. Nuel Ojei, founder of Nuel Ojei Holdings Ltd (NOH), describing his passing as a great loss to Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State and the nation at large.

In a condolence message on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Elumelu said he received the news of Dr. Ojei’s death with disbelief, noting that the late business icon was a man of rare vision, integrity and compassion whose life was devoted to service, enterprise and humanity.

According to him, Dr. Ojei’s contributions to Nigeria’s economy through entrepreneurship, job creation and investments across sectors remain indelible, adding that his philanthropic gestures touched countless lives within and outside Delta State.

“Dr. Nuel Ojei was not just a successful businessman, but a father, mentor and benefactor to many. His passion for uplifting humanity, empowering the youth and supporting the less privileged endeared him to all. His passing is a painful loss, not only to Issele-Uku but to the entire Aniocha North Local Government Area and Nigeria as a whole,” Elumelu said.

The former Minority Leader, described the late industrialist as a pillar of development whose legacy of generosity, humility and service will continue to inspire generations.

Rt. Hon. Elumelu extended his heartfelt condolences to the wife, children and entire Nuel Ojei family of Issele-Uku, urging them to take solace in the remarkable life their patriarch lived and the enduring impact he left behind.

He also sympathized with the traditional ruler of Issele-Uku Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Nduka, the Obi of Issele-Uku, the Issele-Uku Kingdom, and the entire people of Aniocha North Local Government Area over what he described as a collective loss.

“The death of Chief Nuel Ojei is a great blow to our people. He was a bridge-builder, a community leader and a man whose generosity knew no bounds,” Elumelu added.

He prayed for God’s divine comfort for the bereaved family and all those mourning the departed patriarch, asking the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest.

“May God, in His infinite mercy, grant the soul of Dr. Nuel Ojei eternal rest, and may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

Dr. Nuel Ojei, a respected entrepreneur and philanthropist, passed away at the age of 74 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, children, and a host of relatives, associates and admirers who continue to celebrate his life of impact and service to humanity.
