One of the executive members of Onitsha traders Association, Mr. Sabastine Okoro told Emerald News that the decision was taken by all traders in the city in respect of the court case of the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu that will take place today in Abuja.
Mr. Okoro said that Nnamdi Kanu deserves to be freed from detention, which is why all Ndi Igbo in Onitsha, those outside Onitsha as well as those in diaspora will join hands and ask God for divine intervention in the case.
He added that thousands of Igbos from South East of Nigeria have trooped to Abuja in order to witness the Court case of Kanu.
According to him, no shop will open in Onitsha today as a mark of solidarity with IPOB leader.
He maintained that many accusations leveled against IPOB leader were false and misleading, adding that Nnamdi Kanu was fighting a just course for liberation from slavery.
