Mr. Norbert Chiazor, Executive Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Deltans and media practitioners to support the sitting governor in the quest to build a better Delta for all residents of the state.
Chiazor, a former Delta state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on Thursday told journalists under the aegis of Indigenous Correspondent Chapel (ICC) that Governor Oborevwori has the interest of Deltans at heart, hence he needed to be supported so as to achieve the goal of building a better Delta for all.
The Executive Assistant to the governor, who was flanked by Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Nkem Nweke, reeled out numerous projects which the governor has executed and some ongoing which would be commissioned during the one year anniversary of the governor.
He commended journalists for giving effective media coverage to activities and programmes of the governor, saying the MORE Agenda of the governor has received media attention in a positive light from journalists in the state.
He said: “I want to thank you all for effectively reporting the activities of the MORE Agenda. Across Delta state, the governor is busy inspecting projects, both of the previous and present administration. He could decide to chart his own course but felt government was a continuum. Hence, he took up the projects of the previous government to ensure their completion.”
He said Governor Oborevwori’s administration is a credible one and called for all to support him, insisting that the governor’s social contract with the people of Delta state is a contract which he must fulfill for the good of all residents
He said the governor has the interest of all Deltans at heart, and as a man with strength of character, he is willing to fulfill all his campaign promises to all Deltans irrespective of party affiliation and geographical residence in the state.
He advised journalists against allowing unscrupulous politicians to use them against the governor, saying such politicians have nothing to offer rather than attempting to spoil the good works of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He called on all journalists to pursue noble causes that would aid their goals and aspirations in life, saying such noble causes are what would add value to their lives as they progress in their media career.
He said a special training programme is being packaged for journalists in the state just as he noted that a special award is being put together for different categories of practising journalists in Delta state.
