Wife of Delta state governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, on Thursday said the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is concerned about the plight of the average Nigerians.
The governor’s wife made the remark during the disbursement of N10m to 40 farmers and presentation of household consumables to 1200 indigent women in Delta state. The presentation was made in Asaba, the state capital.
The N10m and household consumables were donated by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of Nigeria’s president under the auspices of The Renewed Hope Initiative, a project of the president’s wife.
Mrs. Oborevwori said the state government received 1200 25kg bags of rice and the N10m from the president’s wife for the 40 farmers and 1200 indigent women.
Deaconess Oborevwori told the women that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori added 1,200 cartons of noodles, 1,200 cooking oil (1litre each), 1, 200 cartons of maggi cubes to the 1,200 bags of rice received from Renewed Hope Initiative.
According to her, each of the 40 farmers is to receive a total sum of N250,000 as grant to boost their farming while each woman is to receive a bag of rice and other consumables to cushion the effect of the hardship in the country.
She said: “Recently, our mother, the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was here to flag-off the grant of N100,000 each for petty traders and now it is the turn of indigent women in the state.
“We can see that the Renewed Hope Initiative of the wife of the president is greatly concerned about the plight of Nigerians and has put in place this programme to alleviate the economic stress of women who will in turn reach out to their families. We received 1,200 bags of 25kg of rice which will distributed today”.
She said the beneficiaries were carefully selected from across the 25 local government areas.
One of the beneficiaries of the N250, 000 farmers’ grant, Hope Egbogbare, who hails from Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, said she did not expect such amount at this point of her life, while expressing confidence that the cash would go a long way in enlarging her poultry business.
One of those who received the food items, Mrs Justina Emelue, expressed appreciation saying: “The food will help me and my children now because things are very expensive in the market”.
