Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta state, Godwin Ogorugba, has taken proactive steps aimed at keeping Isoko North clean and habitable and called for a synergy between community leaders across the council to sensitize and cooperate with the council in maintaining a clean environment devoid of indiscriminate disposal of waste.

Ogorugba who made the appeal Saturday while supervising the monthly environmental sanitation exercise at Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North, said “I want to make a passionate appeal to all community leaders across the local government to sensitize their people to cooperate with council in order to keep their environment clean and avoid indiscriminate disposal of refuse” he stated.

The chairman said in order to keep Isoko North clean and safe for habitable living as one of his vision for his people, there is urgent need for collaboration and cooperation with the leadership of all the communities and residents, saying “We must join hands to ensure our environmental bylaws are complied with to the fullest by avoiding indiscriminate disposal of refuse, clearing and sweeping our premises regularly, avoid open defecation, avoid contamination of our sources of drinking waters, building of illegal structures, building on water channels and trading under the high tension of electric cables along the road among others.”

While emphasizing the need for keeping Isoko North clean to avoid the spread of diseases and bacterials that could cause sickness which can lead to untimely death, Ogorugba explained that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness, so we must keep Isoko North clean to ensure healthy living of our people which is inline with the MORE agenda of His Excellency,. Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, governor of Delta state.

He also appeals to all the clans traditional rulers, community president generals and the communities youth leaders to seat up with their leadership responsibilities in keeping their communities clean and safe for their people, even as he said “As a council we will work in synergy with our communities leaders and residents to ensure Isoko North is the most cleanest local government area in Delta State, thus the local government need the cooperation of all Isoko North people.
