Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has pleaded with the people of the state to cooperate with his administration in the battle against the dreaded coronavirus.
As at Monday, June 6, 2020, the number of confirmed cases in the state stood at 1,218 with Oshimili south, Warri south, Ughelli North, Uvwie, Oshimili North and Sapele being the worse hit council areas in the state.
The cases in these six local government areas are more than any other local government areas. Therefore, the governor is pleading with all residents in the state to abide by the protocols established by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
In a tweet on Monday evening, the governor said: “We have now recorded 1,218 #COVID-19 cases in Delta state. As many of you know, a few days ago, my wife, my daughter and I also tested positive for the virus.
“As my administration works to curb the spread and keep you and your families safe, we need your full cooperation.”
For the governor to speak from isolation, you should know he is serious with the welfare of all Delta people. This is even as he is undergoing treatment for the same coronavirus infection.
