Comrade Warri Ovoke Friday’s master plan for regeneration of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state is unfolding, with a focus on infrastructure development as the catalyst for sustainable growth. By prioritizing critical projects such as road construction and buildings renovations, his administration is creating an enabling environment for investment and social progress. Despite financial constraints, the chairman’s commitment to revitalizing Isoko South is evident in his tireless efforts to transform the local government into a hub of economic and cultural activity.
Upon assuming office as Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area on July 15th, 2024, Comrade Warri announced at the handover ceremony held at the council secretariat in Oleh that his administration would give the council a comprehensive facelift and restore hope to the entire local government, thereby tackling rural decay challenges and creating a new Isoko South.
No doubt, building structures offer aesthetic appeal, enhance urban beauty, and provide essential facilities for social and official events and it is a known fact that globally, infrastructure development serves as a beacon to attract serious investors, signaling that a location is business-ready. This is a key consideration for investors.
Despite the pronounced impact of exchange rate changes, gasoline price increments, and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) cost effect on projects in Nigeria, the Comrade Warri led administration, is actively undertaking these projects concurrently.
Comrade Warri’s rural renewal program is built around several core objectives, including economic regeneration, social and cultural, environmental renewal, infrastructure upgrading and more is collectively known as “WARRI FOR YOUR WORRIES”, to tackle pressing issues to the benefit of the people.
Just few weeks in office, Comrade Warri, designated and took as a priority the failed portion of Ogbemudia road, with earth moving machines deployed to fix the bad portion of the Ogbemidia road in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South that has become a nightmare and worriea to the good people of Isoko South to enable the free flow of traffic and the transportation of goods and services to other parts of the council and neighbouring towns and local government councils.
With the same speed of light and as a young man who does not joke with PRUDENCE and to save money from hotel accommodations, the Comrade Warri led administration initiated the renovation of the chairman’s quarters right inside the council secretariat, Oleh that has remain unhabitable for almost five years now. Today, a strong political will and administrative commitment to regenerate Isoko South is evident to all residents of Oleh to see and testify.
Oleh, the administrative headquarters of Isoko South council, is divided into two sections by the Iyede-Emede-Oleh expressway known as Ogbemudia road, the latter of which is being rehabilitated to improve its motorability while the remaining section is comprised of the prominent Emore road, linking the local government secretariat to IDC junction and Oleh campus. This road is remarkable due to its dual-lane configuration and historical importance. Unfortunately, it has become infamous for motorists traveling against traffic leaving the chairman with no option than to constituting a taskforce committee in no distance time to address this problem.
The city of Oleh is grappling with not only rapid population growth but also a lack of strict conformity to a master plan, leading to an absence of tourist sites, parks, green areas, and other public facilities commonly seen in local government headquarters across the state and in making Oleh city a place to behold and attractions, the Comrade chairman has concluded plans to launch a beautification project in Oleh, a design for the Soko South Local Government secretariat entrance, to be constructed at the existing gate which is already in progress, with materials already arriving on site.
To this point, the Isoko South urban and rural regeneration path has commenced in earnest, with a comprehensive plan underway. The Warri-led regeneration initiative for Isoko South is on course. The chairman’s goal is to redevelop Isoko South into a vibrant construction hub for every eye to behold. However, as a local government chairman, he faces funding constraints, limiting the scope of large-scale construction projects. Nonetheless, he is utilizing the available resources optimally. The nexus between these projects and the economic prosperity of Isoko South residents is significant and Isoko South future appears promising.
