Oshimili South LG chairman to commission N40m remodelled executive office, makes case for second term

The chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta state, Comrade Uche Osadebe, on Sunday made case for his return to serve another term in office as he gets ready to commission ultramodern executive office complex.

In an exclusive interview with newsmen, Comrade Osadebe said he deserved a second term in office owing to his verifiable performance in the local government since he was first elected as chairman in 2018.

According to Osadebe, ‘’my appeal is that there should be reward for service. We should not be thinking of trying a new person when the one there has done well. There should be reward for service so that people will come and do their best, otherwise people will only come into office to look for money and not serve’.

‘’When we came in here, we had to work because we have been in the other side and we did criticize the government. So when we came in, we had to do those things we criticized for not being done by those who were here and so we expect reward for service and competence.

“I deserve a second term. My performance can be assessed because since 1999 till date, nobody has done what I have done in this council (Oshimili South Local Government)’’ he said.

The chairman also expressed his desire to commission the renovated OSLGA executive office complex on or before the eve of Christmas, adding that the edifice cost more than N40million to remodel and reconstruct.

‘’We did a lot of work here. We had to raise the foundation and redesign the place to give it the befitting look of a government premises. The project was awarded as a contract and we have spent about N40million. When you work in a more conducive environment, you will be able to reason very well.

‘’I did this because of my passion for service. Some of the things I did in the council were funded from my pocket so that we could achieve results. I expect that this week, the project will be commissioned, hopefully on or before December 24, 2020’’ he said.

Conducting journalists around the remodeled executive office complex, Osadebe said the edifice contained two conference rooms, offices for the Chairman, the Vice Chairman, Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Supervisors, clerks and other members of staff as well as conveniences, solar-powered security lights, security cameras and landscaping.
