PDP claims superior over APC, other political parties, passes confidence vote on Okowa
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asserted that the party is superior to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties in Oshimili South Local Government Area, and Delta State in general.
The PDP also advised its members to remain steadfast, as the party was formidable enough to guarantee their interests and will keep winning elections in the State, especially the Presidency, in 2023.
Besides, following a motion moved by Obi (Dr.) Benibe Ugboko and seconded by Mr. Chike Ifesiokwu, the party passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for delivering on his promises of building a Stronger Delta, as evidenced in his legacies, since he first assumed office six years ago.
The party’s position was taken at an enlarged stakeholders meeting of PDP in Oshimili South Local Government Area, which held in Asaba and attended by local government and ward executives, party leaders, youth and women groups, who expressed unity and solidarity .
Advancing reasons why Deltans should remain faithful to the party, Oshimili South PDP Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji enumerated some of the latest legacies of Governor Okowa in Asaba to include road infrastructure, the newly established Dennis Osadebe University and the Film Village, adding that other local government areas were enjoying similar benefits in Okowa’s administration.
Reacting to pockets of defections and blackmail by those he described as political light weights in the local government area, Ogbueshi Okonji condemned their ingratitude, adding that they had benefited from the PDP, even as he enjoined members to explore the robust conflict resolution mechanisms of the party.
According to him, the PDP had established channels to resolve internal conflicts and grievances of those who felt undermined, adding that it was the duty of party faithful to explore the machinery of conflict resolution.
Party leaders, like the member representing Oshimili South Local Government in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Shedrack Rapu; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye; the Odogwu (Warlord) of Asaba, Ogbueshi Nwanze Oduah and Engr. Dr. Ononye said that the vote of confidence passed on the governor was due to his development strides that had touched all the wards in the area, the local government and state in general.
Also at the meeting, Oshimili South Local Government Chairman, Mr. Kelvin Ezenyili announced the constitution of an Special Advisory Committee (SAC) in line with his promise to operate an all-inclusive government at the grassroots.
