Police arraign 2 persons in court over alleged conspiracy to kidnap governor’s brother

Authorities of the Bayelsa state police command have arraigned two persons in court over conspiracy and attempt to kidnap Mr. Ebi Ayama popularly know as Americana.

Mr. Ebi Ayama, popularly know as Americana, is a brother to the state governor, Senator Douye Diri.

The two suspects, identified as Lucky Oghenebrume, 53 years old and Omobowho Okpowodo,52 years old, were arrested by men of the Operation Puff Adder in November, 2023 at Mbiama community in Rivers State.

The arrest of the two suspects, according to police authoritiea, was made possible through intelligence gathering and detailed investigations.

The two suspects, who pleaded not guilty were arraigned at the Kaima High Court sitting in Yenagoa with suit numbered BYH/KHC/CR/2/2024.

Police prosecutor told the court that Lucky Oghenebrume, 53 years old was the mastermind and on the wanted list of the state police command over the alleged involvement in the abduction of one Fyneman in Sagbama Local Government area of the state where a ransom of N50million was paid.

Oghenebrume was also described as a resident of Mbiama community and reside alone in a massive compound in which he allegedly Carry out his dastardly act.

He was also reported to have relocated his family to Delta state to avoid being exposed.

The second suspect, Omobowho Okpowodo, 52 years old, was identified as the owner of the motor mechanic workshop where the targeted victim carry out repairs on his vehicles.

Okpowodo, according to the police prosecution, was allegedly over heared planning to abduct Mr. Ebi Ayama popularly know as Americana on his way from Ekeremor local Government area.

The Presiding Judge, Justice T.Songi has adjourned the case till 27th February, 2024.

Meanwhile, a cross section of the residents of Yenagoa,the Bayelsa State capital has commended the digital innovation by the State Police Command led by CP Alonyenu Francis Idu with the deployment of drone and other operational assets to tackle crime and threats to peace in the State.

According Comrade Jameson peters, a resident of Opolo area, the proactive response to emergencies such as the recent communal clash in the area is commendable

According to him, ” the coordination among security agencies showed that the present administration is disposed to peace and security of lives and properties”
