In a development that has sent shockwaves through Delta State and beyond, the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 5 Command Headquarters in Benin City, has declared two individuals wanted in connection with a case of conspiracy and murder.

The suspects, identified as Christopher Nduka Odiakose and Leonard Happy AKA Tilome, associates of Francis Oduwanor aka Francis Odiakose aka Medolunwa who hail from Owere-Olubor in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, are alleged to have orchestrated and executed a violent act that led to the tragic loss of life in Otulu, Ogwashi-Uku, on December 24, 2024.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tijani A. Momoh, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Arungwa Nwazue, the duo are believed to be members of a terror group responsible for creating unrest in Otulu, Ogwashi-Uku.

The Police, acting under the authority of a warrant issued by the High Court of Justice in Edo State, have launched a full-scale manhunt to bring the accused to justice.

The Chilling Details
Investigations have revealed that on the eve of Christmas, what should have been a time of celebration and goodwill was marred by an incident of cold-blooded murder.

While the specifics of the crime remain under wraps, pending further inquiries, security sources suggest that the event was premeditated and executed with brutal efficiency.

Both Odiakose and Tilome, described as associates of Francis Oduwanor with a history of involvement in violent activities, have been on the police radar for some time. Their last known address is in Otulu, Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, where they have allegedly been instigating violence and fostering a climate of fear within the community.

POLICE ISSUE WARNING: SUSPECTS ARE DANGEROUS

The authorities have issued a strong advisory to the public, warning against any attempt to confront the suspects directly. Intelligence reports indicate that they may be armed and dangerous, posing a significant threat to anyone who attempts to apprehend them without law enforcement support.

However, the police have assured that a handsome reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) awaits any individual or group providing information that leads to the arrest of either suspect.

Members of the public who have credible leads are urged to report to the nearest Police Station or contact the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5 Command Headquarters in Benin City, Edo State.

OGWASHI-UKU ON EDGE: COMMUNITY REACTS

Residents of Ogwashi-Uku, particularly those in Otulu, are expressing a mix of fear and relief following the police declaration. Many have lamented the spate of violence that has plagued their once-peaceful community, alleging that criminal elements have turned their homes into battlegrounds.

“We live in constant fear. These people are dangerous, and we hope the police will act fast to get them off our streets,” one resident, who spoke anonymously, said.

Some community leaders have commended the authorities for their swift action, urging them to intensify patrols and ensure the protection of innocent citizens.

Others, however, have called for a broader investigation, alleging that the problem goes beyond these two individuals.

A CALL FOR VIGILANCE

This latest case underscores the growing concern over crime and insecurity in many parts of Delta State. While the Police have pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice, the success of the operation will depend on public cooperation.

For now, the message is clear: Odiakose and Tilome are wanted men. It remains to be seen how soon the long arm of the law will catch up with them.

For any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects, the Police have provided the contact hotline 0803 805 9618. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.

CONCLUSION: JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL

As the hunt for them continues, this case serves as a stark reminder that crime does not pay. The Police, under the command of AIG Arungwa Nwazue, have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that the peace and security of the region are restored.
