Emerging reports are indicative that the Inspector general of police has allegedly directed police in Benin to send Governor Nyesom Wike out of Benin City prior to the commencement of election on Saturday in Edo state.
Governor Wike of Rivers state is the national campaign chairman of the PDP for the Edo statee governorship election. In the same vein, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state is the APC national campaign chairman in the state.
But the police IG, according to reports made available to our medium, is insisting that Wike must leave Benin City. But Wike is saying as long as Governor Ganduje remains in Benin City he goes nowhere.
One Mazi Gburugburu twitted: “I just got off the phone with Governor Wike and he confirmed to me that 100s of policemen acting under the instructions of the IG are preventing him from leaving his hotel room and are ordering him to leave Benin. He insists that he is going nowhere so long as the APC Campaign.”
Gov Wike arrives Edo State ahead of the governorship election on Saturday. He tells Edo people "This election must not be rigged"
