The police in Asaba have described social media posts on the murder of the abducted ex-Delta female commissioner, Joan Onyemaechi, as a rumour and fake news.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, refuted the reports when contacted for confirmation. He told Emerald News on phone that “it’s rumour, it’s fake news.”
He added that there was no update on the kidnap case as no contact had been established with the abductors since the incident occured on Tuesday.
The social media was flooded Friday morning with news of the discovery of the remains of the abducted former commissioner and two others at the Onitsha end of the Niger bridge.
