The commissioner of police in Bayelsa state, Tolani Alausa, has been caught up in a political web of compromise ahead of political campaigns for the November 11, governorship election in the state.
The CP, who had earlier feigned ignorance of the deployment of SWAT team to Opu-Nembe in the wake of the crisis, is suspected to be romancing opposition APC.
Sources alleged that the CP is not fully in support of the PDP gubernatorial campaign train going to Nembe-Bassambiri.
A socio-political group, Bayelsa Agenda for Good Governance, (BAGG) through its spokesperson, Mr. Jonathan Edisemi, alleged that the police commissioner might be playing high wired games.
According to Edisemi, “we thought that the commissioner of police is boasting to have restored peace and order to Opu-Nembe with his SWAT.
How can a CP not be able to guarantee security in a place under his command? Something is fishy!
Mr. Edisemi, said the group would follow up this issue and watch how the CP will respond to rally request by the opposition party.
“The police commissioner should not allow any politician rubbish his records of service. This government has supported CP Alausa and the command since he came into Bayelsa state to ensure the safety and security of the people.
“Sincerely, we thought this CP is working for peace and security in Opu-Nembe. He must live above board. He must be aware that he will surely account for any misdeed”, he stated.
