Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has come down hard on Nigerians who are blame the biggest film industry in Nigeria for the moral decadence in the country.

Many Nigerians have been blaming the film industry as the cause of some of the moral failures in the country. This is due to the violent films and some of the immodest films the industry produces.

Some right thinking Nigerians are of the view that the Nollywood films are aiding the evil in the country like robbery, prostitution, rape and other social vices in Nigeria.

In Nigeria of today, there are so many evils being committed by youths, men and even women. Pornography, robbery, cultism and rape are some of the evils people, especially youths learn from films produced by Nollyowood.

Without mincing word, there are some films by Nollywood that do not help society. They are part of the cause of social deviants, moral failure and immoral actions in society of today.

But Yul Edochie is not happy with people attributing the cause of moral failure to Nollywood films in Nigeria. In a tweet on Friday, Edochie said “Past leaders failed to fix the country, you all turn around to blame Nollywood for it.

“All the gun violence movies you watch from America has it stopped you from applying for American visa, neither have the kung fu movies stopped you from going to China. It’s all entertainment.”

In all said and done, the film industry has not helped people, especially the youths. It has greatly affected their lives very negatively. It has affected their clothing pattern. The craze for wealth among youths is from the films they watch.
