The Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators of the Phase 2 Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, on June 1, 2024, elected Honourable Kingsley Muturu as its Chairman after a keenly contested election. He’s to steer the affairs of that phase in the next two years.

The election was organised by the Livinus Alex Odudu – led Electoral Committee, who declared Hon. Muturu winner of the election.

According to the Electoral Committee Chairman for the Coalition, “having polled the highest number of votes cast, I hereby declare Honourable Kingsley Muturu, winner of the election.”

Honourable Muturu, who polled 41 votes, defeated his closest rival; Salvation Rufus Ebina, who scored a total of 37 while Olotu Wanemi Omubo and Stephen Ebisitie, polled 7 votes each. The total accredited votes were 92, while there was no report of invalid vote.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman said his leadership will build a workable collaboration with the Amnesty Office and ensure that beneficiaries enjoy a new lease of life adding that he will foster a healthy relationship between the Dr Dennis Otuaro-led management of PAP, ex-militant leaders and others.

As soon as the announcement of Muturu as the winner of the election, the atmosphere was electrified as ex-agitators trooped out in jubilation, confirming the free and fair nature of the election.
