Students of Federal University of Technology, Akure, on Tuesday blocked the school gates, burning tyres to protest the death of one Daniel Akinyele who was crushed by a truck.
Available facts revealed that students of the school took to the streets to protest the death of their colleague. It was learnt that members of the Nigeria army stormed the protest ground to quell the uprising.
The deceased was a 200 level student of software engineering at Federal University Technology Akure, Ondo state. Akinleye Daniel, was popularly known as 9jabaz among students of the campus.
Instablog9ja reports that the misfortune took place on Monday August 2 when the late Daniel and four of his friends were on their way to school when they bashed into a trailer driving against traffic and were crushed around Adesuper area in Akure.
It was further gathered that students who witnessed the accident hurried to the school gate to call for an ambulance from the health center but were denied access by the gatekeeper.
The words of a witness were “we rushed the victims to the school to get help but the gateman did not allow us in.The officers at the health center said there was no fuel in the ambulances to convey the victim.
We had to rush them to another hospital where Daniel was pronounced dead while the other four were lying in an unconscious state.
This tragedy has cause rampage on social media with users demanding a proper explanation from the school management and a lot of persons holding the Sheriff responsible for Daniel’s death.
