former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Cletus Enebe has passed on.
Enebe, who represented Awgu North Constituency in the State Assembly, was said to have been ill before his death.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Uchenna Ubosi, who confirmed the death in a statement on Wednesday, offered his condolences to the family of Enebe.
Ubosi described Enebe’s death as a huge loss to the state and its legislative arm.
Enebe contested for the Awgu North State Constituency seat at the Enugu State House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999 and won.
He was unanimously elected pioneer Speaker of the House.
Enebe was the chairman of various House committees including the Committee on Local Government, Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC matters.
The former Speaker began his career as a civil servant with the Enugu State Ministry of Education in the early 90s and later moved over to the Ministry of Health where he retired after 15 years of service.
