The Isoko South Chief Inspector of Education, CIE’s office is in Emiye Girls Grammar School, what really is he inspecting?
On the pathetic pictures of Emiye Grammar School Girls sitting on bare floor to learn, I think we need to put the issue in proper perspective.
First, the point must be stressed that the school in question is a secondary school and by law is 100% under the purview of the Delta State Government. The Local Government and her representatives can only intervene like the immediate past administration in Isoko South did in Aviara Grammar School, Olomoro Comprehensive High School e.t.c. Such intervention is subject to availability of funds. The truth is these are not the best of times for Local Governments across the country interms of finance. The question is whose responsibility is it?
It is squarely the responsibility of the State Ministry of Education. I am of the opinion that we, with greater intensity draw the attention of the Representative of the Isoko South Constituency 1 and the host of our people in position of authority in Asaba. It is their responsibility, not that of Councillors and Chairman of Council.
Our people in Government must periodically visit our public infrastructures and interact more often with our people. Some of these things are stuff they can sort out if they are aware. Our Principals who are majorly from Isoko must also learn to bring some of these issues to our people in Government. Many a times, they have this civil servant I don’t care attitude.
Sadly, the number I Education officer in Isoko South, who is the Chief Inspector of Education has his office right inside Emiye, the question is what is he inspecting.? If Emiye where the CIE operates from is this pathetic, what then is the fate of students in other parts of the Local Government?
I think we should place culpability where it truly belongs.
