A 30-year-old man identified as Wallen Undi, was arrested after he killed his parents, Williams Lester Undi, 72, and Molly Undi, 68, on Sunday, December 19, 2021, in Lilongwe District, Malawi.
According to a statement by the Spokesperson for Lilongwe Police, Insp. Hastings Chingalu, the man killed his parents for unknown reason at Malimbwe Village (Chitedze area), Traditional Authority Malili in Lilongwe.
On that faithful day, the parents were at home with the suspect after the elder sibling Wiza, 32, left for a walk somewhere.
However, upon returning from his journey at around 19:00 hours, Wiza found the doors of their house closed and just decided to leave.
However, when he returned home at around 20:00 hours, Wiza found the house still locked.
When knocked on the doors but there was no response, he decided to go and spend a night at one of their relatives’ houses.
When he came back to the house on Monday morning, December 20, 2021, Wiza, who reported the incident to police, discovered his parents lying in a pool of blood. They had been hacked to death.
Confirming the sad incident, Insp. Chigalu Wallen stated that the suspect who is believed to be of unsound mind was found.
He was arrested by the police right in the house while hiding in one of the rooms.
The man is currently in police custody while bodies of his parents are now at Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
