Senator Ede Dafinone, representstye Delta Central Senatorial District, has been honoured with a Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his contributions to the development of the Urhobo Nation and his commitment to public service.
The award was presented by the Urhobo Catholic Community of St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church during the Urhobo Cultural Day celebration and the formal welcome of His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido to the Asaba Region. The event, held in December 2025 in Asaba, Delta State, was themed “Urhobo: Our Culture, Our Pride.”
Presenting the honour, the organisers commended Senator Dafinone for his dedication to promoting the welfare of the Urhobo people and his efforts to attract meaningful developmental projects to communities across the Delta Central Senatorial District.
Speaking while receiving the award, Senator Dafinone expressed appreciation to the Urhobo Catholic Community for the recognition, noting that the honour further strengthens his resolve to continue working for the progress and unity of the Urhobo Nation.
He also acknowledged the opportunity to be recognised alongside other distinguished honourees, including His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, Author Akpowowo, Fred Majemite and Paul Evuarherhe, describing the recognition as both humbling and inspiring.
