Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated His Royal Majesty, Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo, Okporua I, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, on the official presentation of his Staff of Office by the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
In a congratulatory message issued on Friday, Senator Dafinone described the occasion as a “proud and historic moment” not only for the Udu Kingdom but for the entire Urhobo nation. He praised the monarch’s ascension as a reflection of his outstanding leadership, professional excellence, and lifelong dedication to community service.
“Your ascension to the throne stands as a testament to your outstanding leadership qualities, a successful professional career, and a deep commitment to serving humanity,” Dafinone stated. “I am convinced that your reign will bring renewed hope, progress, and stability to Udu Kingdom.”
The senator also commended the people of Udu Kingdom for the peaceful and harmonious process that led to the monarch’s selection, coronation, and presentation of the Staff of Office. He called on all sons and daughters of Udu to unite behind their king in loyalty and cooperation for the growth and development of the kingdom.
“I urge all sons and daughters of Udu to continue to rally around His Majesty in unity and loyalty, so that together, you can build a kingdom that embodies peace, growth, and cultural pride,” he said.
Senator Dafinone prayed for God’s continued guidance upon the monarch, wishing him wisdom, good health, and longevity as he leads his people.
“May your reign be marked by peace, prosperity, and unity and may Udu Kingdom continue to shine as a beacon of progress under your esteemed leadership,” the statement concluded.
The presentation of the Staff of Office by Governor Oborevwori marks the formal recognition of HRM Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo, Okporua I, as the traditional ruler of Udu Kingdom, a significant milestone in the cultural and political history of the Urhobo nation.
