Senator Ede Dafinone has congratulated the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Obukowho Monday Whiskey, JP, PhD, Udurhie I, on the occasion of his 60th birthday and fifth coronation anniversary, describing the milestone as a testament to a life of service and exemplary leadership.
In a statement issued on Saturday, January 17, 2026, the senator, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, hailed the monarch’s dual celebration as “a remarkable milestone that speaks to God’s grace, a fulfilled life of service, and a reign anchored on wisdom, peace, and dignity.”
According to Dafinone, the ascension of Udurhie I to the throne five years ago marked the beginning of a new era of purposeful traditional leadership in Idjerhe Kingdom, characterized by unity, stability, and renewed pride in cultural heritage.
“Since Your Majesty’s coronation, your reign has been defined by unity, stability, and peaceful coexistence among your people, while strengthening communal bonds and cultural identity,” the senator said.
He particularly commended the monarch for successfully blending tradition with intellectual excellence, noting that his academic distinction and enlightened worldview have elevated the institution of traditional rulership in Delta State and the wider Urhobo nation.
“As a monarch of deep academic distinction, you have projected Idjerhe Kingdom as a beacon of cultural pride, progressive thought, and responsible leadership,” Dafinone stated.
The senator also praised the Ovie’s commitment to peace-building, youth engagement, and community development, describing the palace under his leadership as a moral compass and rallying point for dialogue, consensus, and grassroots advancement.
