BY KENNETH ORUSI

In a steadfast move to boost infrastructure and connectivity in the Delta North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko has embarked on an inspection tour of pivotal development projects within the zone.

A highlight of this initiative is the one-kilometer Ugbobi Uzebu Road in the Idumuje-Ugboko community. This crucial link road is poised to revitalize local mobility and stimulate economic growth, improving access to key areas for residents and businesses alike.

The road stretches from Ugbobi Primary School to the Uzebu axis, strategically enhancing access to farmland and essential services. Historically, this route has suffered from poor conditions and seasonal flooding, hampering the movement of people, goods, and emergency services. Recognizing these challenges, Senator Nwoko has driven this project forward to ensure that every community member enjoys improved infrastructure.

The project is being executed in two well-structured phases. The first section, from Palace Junction to Uzebu axis, is already progressing smoothly, with plans to fully extend the road to provide critical links between the community’s educational and healthcare facilities.

In an interview with reporters after touring the project, Dr. Michael Nwoko, the Senator’s Chief of Staff, emphasized that Senator Nwoko’s team is committed to ensuring the highest standards of quality and timely delivery of the project. He further shared that the road would be commissioned soon, following a brief extension for completion.

Dr. Nwoko stated, “This one-kilometer road is a significant project for the Idumuje-Ugboko community in the Delta North Senatorial District. It is part of Senator Nwoko’s broader effort to drive substantial infrastructure development in the region.”

He continued, “This road is strategically located at the heart of the town and will serve as a vital connection to farmlands and important community resources. Along with this, we have other road projects in the pipeline for the community, and many more are planned across the Delta North Senatorial District.”

Dr. Nwoko further assured that the project’s contractors were aligned with the Senator’s vision for high standards and timely execution. “I have met with the contractors, and they are committed to delivering this road project on time and to the highest standards,” he affirmed. “We are confident that the road will be completed soon, and the Senator’s monitoring team is making unscheduled visits to ensure the quality of work.”

Regarding the installation of street lighting, Dr. Nwoko also shared that the Ogbuobi, Atuma, and Ogbuobi areas, along the Isicon and Ogbuofu axes, have already been illuminated, and solar-powered streetlights have been fitted along the expressway leading into the community.

Abdurahim Sulaiman, the contractor from the Al-Kibad Group, also reassured residents that the project would be completed within the agreed time frame. “Despite some initial setbacks with equipment, we have mobilized all necessary resources to ensure the prompt and high-quality delivery of this project,” he said. “We are committed to finishing the work to the satisfaction of the community.”

Local residents, who have long experienced the hardships caused by the dilapidated road, expressed their appreciation for the Senator’s intervention. Mr. Debia Christian, a lifelong community member, shared his enthusiasm about the transformation the road will bring.

“For over 15 years, the road conditions have hindered our progress,” Mr. Christian said. “Senator Nwoko’s intervention is not just about constructing a road; it’s about providing better access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. We are grateful for the work he is doing here.”

He added, “I was born here, and I have seen the road deteriorate over the years. Senator Nwoko’s efforts will bring significant benefits to our community, and we are excited about the positive changes.”

Another resident, Mr. Agbamuche Elozien, expressed his joy over the road’s impending completion, noting the relief it would bring. “Before, it was a struggle to take our goods to the market,” he said. “Now, with this road, it will be much easier. We appreciate Senator Nwoko’s promise and his commitment to our community.”

Senator Nwoko’s infrastructure projects reflect his broader vision for Delta North, aiming to improve connectivity and modernize key amenities. The Ubuobi Uzebu Road project, alongside other ongoing initiatives, is set to dramatically enhance the quality of life for residents, fostering growth in agriculture, healthcare, and education.

As the final phases of construction near completion, the community eagerly awaits the full benefits of this transformative project, a testament to Senator Nwoko’s dedication to the development and well-being of Delta North.
