Ondo state Police has arrested a 54-year old man, identified as Ojo Joseph for allegedly setting his five step children ablaze because his wife denied him sex.
THE NATION reported that the suspect poured petrol into the room where the children were sleeping, and set the room on fire.
One of the children was burnt to death, while the others suffered serious injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
The man’s wife managed to escape with their twins babies. She sustained minor injuries though.
According to reports, the incident happened at Fagun Crescent area of Ondo town.
Neighbours said that the reason the man gave for carrying out such tragic act is that his wife offended him over a little misunderstanding.
Funmilayo Odunlami, Ondo Police spokesperson, said the suspect has been arrested for allegedly arson and murder.
She affirmed that investigation has started and that Joseph will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
