A renowned Urhobo born bishop who is the founder and general overseer (name withheld) of a popular church in Enerhen community in Uvwie local government area allegedly escaped kidnap attempt by his wife’ s younger brother while he was preaching on the altar on Sunday, November 22, 2020.
It was gathered that while the service was on, three dare devil mask men entered the church and went straight to the pulpit where they asked the man of God if he was the person they were looking for and the bishop was said to have answered in the affirmative.
The masked men wasted no time in grabbing the bishop but God was on his throne as the bishop was said to have summoned courage by unmasking one of his assailants and to his greatest surprise, the unmasked person was the younger brother of his wife.
Meanwhile, boldness had also enveloped members of the congregation as some gallant younger men of the church pounced on the intruders and caught two of them while one escaped in the process.
Our correspondent’ s attempt to have a media interaction with the said bishop on the alleged bizarre incident met brick walls as he was told that the bishop did not want it published in the media because the bishop said that the family of his wife had apologized to him.
However, when the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya was asked for confirmation of the story through a test message by our correspondent, she responded that ” Please give me some time to get back.”
