Oguname town in Agbarho kingdom, Ughelli North local government area, was, last week, a beehive of activities, as the councilor representing Agbarho ward One/Ten in the legislative arm of Ughelli North Hon Onoriode Agofure, presented staple food to hundreds of indigent persons in the local government and neighboring communities in Ughelli South as well as Ethiope East LGAs, as part of efforts to mitigate the hardship caused by the deadly COVID-19.

The lawmaker presented two square meals per day for four days from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th August, 2020 for residence of the three LGAs.

Hon Agofure in an interview disclosed that the gesture was his own way of complementing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s efforts in mitigating the hardship caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The lawmaker, who noted that “a hungry man is an angry man, disclosed that the gesture is a short term plan to reduce hunger in his locality pending when he will finalise plans to empower them to be self -reliant.

Hon Agofure explained that plans are in top gear to train indigent and unemployed persons in his locality and provide starter packs for them.

Some of the beneficiaries who came from all over towns and villages of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Ethiope LGAs, thanked Hon Onoriode Agofure for putting two square meals per day on their tables for four consecutive days, noting that the gesture has saved them from hunger and starvation occasioned by the deadly Covid-19.

They prayed God to bless and protect Hon Agofure for his goodwill towards them and urged others to emulate him.
