A physically challenged, Mr. Okwudili Mmaduka from Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has received an empowerment from a non-governmental organization, Anambra Demands Soludo. Members of the group assisted him with drums of lubricant to enhance his business.
The intervention came at the heels of an online viral video on an interview by a radio station In the state generated through its weekly radio Phone-in programme, where the physically challenged man was interviewed which later prompted Anambra Demand for Soludo members to intervene to save his collapsed business.
The group led by its co-ordinator for Orumba North local government,. Chukwudi Okoli, said the group is made up of people who believe in what Professor Charles Soludo has done for the development of the country and beyond and reiterated that the group will not relent in their call on Soludo to further serve the people of the State.
On his part, the coordinator of the group in Orumba South Local Government Area, Chief Nelson Uchendu said although Professor Soludo was not aware of the assistance to the physically Challenged man, the gesture reflected some of his basic principles.
In their separate speeches, the State Woman Leader of the group Mrs. Esther Onyekasi commended the determination of Mr Mmaduka to be self reliant and fight for himself without going on the streets to beg.
In his reaction, the Co-ordinator Soludo Support Groups, Chief Jude Emecheta said the intervention was to complement sustained efforts of Governor Willie Obiano and his wife Dr. Ebelechukwu in assisting underprivileged persons across the State to upgrade their lives and reduce level of poverty and hunger.
Responding, the beneficiary, Mr. Mmaduka, thanked Professor Soludo and members of Anambra Demand for Soludo for coming to his aid and prayed God to bless them and grant their aspirations
