The Anambra state ministry of trade and commerce and her counterpart ministry of transport, and other state government agencies have continued their joint clamp down on illegal revenue collectors within the state.
The task force team continued its raid and arrest at hot spots within Onitsha, Oba, Nnewi and Engwu-Ukwu.
Speaking during the exercise, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Uche Okafor revealed that a total of twenty eight persons have been arrested and would be handed over to the security agencies for prosecution.
Mr. Okafor lamented how their activities have been affecting businesses in Anambra state through complaints and disclosed that the state government due to its determination to rid the state of such nefarious activities, will be rehabilitating some of the arrested illegal revenue collectors, who are doing so due to family upbringing and environmental influence.
On his part, the Commissioner for Transport Mr. Afam Mbanefo, said they are making effort to get the syndicate and kingpins who might be supporting the illegal revenue collectors, to finally put a stop to the re-ccurring menace, including those who print tickets for such touts without asking for approvals.
Some of the arrested suspects denied collecting illegal revenue even with the overwhelming evidence that led to their arrested.
