Tragedy struck as stray bullets allegedly from the police injured a girl about 3 pm in Agbarha Warri community of Edjeba on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
It was gathered that the incident occurred when the police were in a hot chase of a suspected yahoo boy who was said to have escaped unhurt.
The maternal uncle of the injured girl, Mr. Gabriel Bakumo, gave her niece’s name as Onos Igbine, 15 years old who lives with her elder sister in the host community of Delta Broadcasting Service.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Police Headquarters, Asaba DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya who was contacted by our correspondent for confirmation, said that nobody was killed and that the injured girl was in a stable condition receiving treatment in an hospital.
She promised to call back. However. our correspondent did not hear from her again till the time of filling this report.
